Ahead of the biggest match of Canberra United's season, Capital Football CEO Phil Brown has a message for the Canberra Football Community.
To the Canberra Football Community.
What a season.
Please join me in congratulating our team, Canberra United, on their fabulous achievement in securing the 2016/17 Westfield W-League Premiership.
Also a huge congratulations to Ash Sykes on claiming the golden boot with an astonishing 12 goals!
The players and coaching staff have worked tirelessly this year, and the Premiership is a fitting reward for their efforts and determination.
Supporting the team has been an army of volunteers, family and friends to who we are eternally grateful.
And to you the football community, your support has helped our team achieve such success. You are the dedicated fans, the coaches that help the local girls develop, the parents that drive young aspiring players to matches, and the volunteers that are the life-force of local clubs. Take a moment to be proud of your contribution to the team’s success. Know that you are part of the team, and that your support has helped them get to where they are.
Now is the time to really show the team how much they mean to our football community
As you know, our semi-final has been scheduled for this Sunday at GIO Stadium as part of a double header with the HAL fixture between the Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United.
It may not be at our home ground….. but Canberra is our home, our spectators are second to none, and our team have shown they are second to none.
I look forward to standing with you on Sunday as part of the Canberra Football Community, cheering on our amazing team of players as they strive to qualify for the Grand Final.
In our Head Coach Rae Dower’s words…. One trophy down, one to go.
Kicking off at GIO Stadium at 2pm, our semi-final is sure to be a blockbuster, and fans can purchase tickets here: http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/Show.aspx?sh=CCMADEL16
Make sure you are bright, vocal and out in force to support Canberra United, but don't forget to stay safe and hydrated in the hot weather.
We can't wait to #CUinGreen!
