Canberra United will kick-off their 2019/20 Foxtel Y-League season at home against the Central Coast Mariners, following the release of the full competition draw earlier today.

The opening round clash is a re-match of last year’s Round One fixture, which saw Canberra fall narrowly to the Mariners late in the game.

Round One will take place on Sunday 17th November at McKellar Park, and Head Coach Ray Junna said he is looking forward to facing his old side first up.

“It’s always interesting when you come up against your old club both as a player and a coach and I am looking forward to the match,” Junna said.

“They have some talented players and last year the Mariners were only one win away from topping the table.

“It will be a good test first up, but there are really no easy games in the competition.”

The Foxtel Y-League season will once again see 10 sides separated into two conferences, with the top team from each conference to meet in the Foxtel Y-League Grand Final on the weekend of 1/2 February 2020.

Canberra United will feature in Conference B in 2019/20 alongside the Central Coast Mariners, Newcastle Jets, Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Each team will play eight matches and have two byes over the course of the 10 round season.

The release of the draw comes with Canberra United’s preparations for the upcoming season well underway.

“The boys I have had trailing and training have been great, they are all enthusiastic and are working hard in pre-season,” Junna said.

“I am looking forward to all the matches as there are only 8 rounds and as a team, we are all looking forward to the challenge.”
