Canberra United can today confirm that Foxtel Y-League star Ben Obst will miss the remainder of the 2018/19 season after tearing his ACL last weekend in the loss to Western Sydney.

Obst came off second best in a tackle during the second half of the clash at Deakin Stadium and was substituted for Zac Barbatano, and later scans confirmed the extent of the injury.

Head Coach Dean Ugrinic extended his best wishes to Obst and expressed disappointment at losing a key player in such a way.

“We’re all extremely disappointed to hear about the extent of Ben’s injury following our match against the Wanderers,” Ugrinic said.

“Ben has been an integral part of our team, and a significant contributor to the solid performances in our first two games.

“We all wish Ben a full and speedy recovery in time for the 2019/20 Foxtel Y-League competition.”

United continue their campaign this weekend as they take on Sydney FC at Lambert Park on Saturday afternoon, kicking off at 4pm.
