Canberra United midfielder Leah Blayney has been selected as part of the Boston Breakers roster for the 2011 WPSL in the USA.

Blayney, who played six matches for United in season three of the Westfield W-League, did enough in her trials to earn selection despite not yet fully recovering from the torn squad sustained during the home match against Melbourne Victory and aggravated in the later fixture with Perth Glory.

The injury is close to healing and Blayney hopes to break into the team that started its season with a 4-1 win over Atlanta Beat. The Breakers next assignment comes on Sunday when they entertain Western New York Flash at Harvard University.

Blayney arrived at Canberra United on the back of an excellent couple of season playing College football in the USA where her all-round ability to create and score goals saw her named as the 2009 North East Conference Player of the Year and the 2010 WPSL East Player of the Year as well as the Final Four MVP whilst playing in the Breakers reserve grade squad, the Boston Aztec Breakers.

Canberra United wishes Leah all the best for the 2011 WPSL season and will update you on her progress later in the year.
