Canberra United can today announce the coaches for the Canberra United team to compete in the 2017/18 Foxtel National Youth League.

Ryan Grogan has been appointed as the Head Coach of the side, while Marcial Munoz will act as his assistant during the season.

Grogan has worked long-term with the Canberra United Academy Program, and this year coached the Canberra United Academy side in the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues U/20 competition.

Munoz meanwhile headed the Gungahlin United PS4 NPL Men’s 1st grade side this year, leading them all the way to a Preliminary Final matchup with Grand Finalists Canberra Olympic.

Capital Football Technical Director Scott O’Donell spoke once more of his excitement at Canberra United’s presence in the NYL and the incoming Coaches.

“I know this is something that our Board, led by Chairman Mark O’Neill, has been pushing for over the last couple of years, so it is really pleasing to see it happening,” he said.

“We are happy to announce the appointment of Ryan as Head Coach and Marcial as assistant coach for the upcoming season.”

“I have worked closely with Ryan this year and believe he is a great young Coach who deserves this opportunity.”

“Marcial is a well-respected coach who has done extremely well as Head Coach of Gungahlin United this year, finishing in fourth spot in the PS4 NPL.”

Grogan said the upcoming season would be a challenge, but one that he welcomed.

“Marcial and I are extremely humbled by our appointments and we are both excited and looking forward to the challenge of competing in the National Youth League,” he said.

“It is clear that there is an abundance of talented youth players in the ACT, and with the FFA granting Canberra a NYL licence, they now have a platform in which they can showcase their ability against some of the best youth players from around the country.”
