Ellie Carpenter capped off a sensational first season in Green as she took home two awards at the Canberra United 2017/18 Awards Night on Thursday.

The young fullback picked up Player of the Year and Members Player of the Year awards, recognising the contribution she has made to the side this year.

Carpenter has played in both midfield and her natural defensive position this season, excelling in both as well as scoring her first ever Westfield W-League goals along the way including a sensational solo effort in last weekend’s clash with Newcastle.

Goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer was recognised for the outstanding season she has had, voted Players Player of the Year by her peers. Kopmeyer leads the league in saves by a massive margin of 13 heading into the final round of the season, reaffirming her status as arguably the league’s best shot stopper.

After a season in and out of the team last year, Karly Roestbakken announced herself as a starter this season with strong performance, and on Thursday picked up the University of Canberra Rising Star Award for her brilliant showings this season. Roestbakken performed strongly in a number of appearances this season including scoring in the big win over Adelaide in January, and is shaping as one of the future stars of the Westfield W-League.

Lisa Garner was recognised for her contribution to the club with the Volunteer of the Year award. The award is recognition of the big role that volunteers play in the club, particularly on matchdays, and is a thank you to Lisa for her help in making home matchdays at McKellar Park some of the best in the league.
