Match Preview – Adelaide United vs Canberra United

Celebration

Canberra United will have hearts racing this Valentine’s Day, as the side looks to bounce back and take home the three points against Adelaide United at Marden Sports Complex on Sunday.

Coming off a Round 7 loss against top of the table Sydney FC, they faced a relentless attack from the Sky Blues up one end and struggled to make inroads down the other.

The result saw Canberra kept scoreless for the first time this season, and they are hungrier than ever to restart that winning momentum.

Hitting the halfway mark of the Westfield W-League season, Canberra will also be hoping to distance themselves from the traffic jam that is emerging on the Westfield W-League ladder.

There may be three spots on the ladder separating the teams heading into Round 8, but the difference is just one point with Adelaide nipping at Canberra’s heels.

The two sides last met in the opening round of Season 13, with Canberra managing an incredible come from behind win, thanks to a Michelle Heyman hat-trick.

Adelaide have proved to be one of the most consistent teams in the league and will have the home side advantage on Sunday, but as Canberra has shown time and again, adversity is strength and they will be looking to leave with all three points.

Kick-off is 6:05pm AEDT on Sunday.
