Canberra United coach Heather Garriock has named Michelle Heyman and Ashleigh Sykes as Co-Captains for Season 10 of the Westfield W-League.
Heyman was co-captain alongside foundation player Ellie Brush last season, but when they were both injured Sykes took over the armband as United fought their way to the Premiership.
Garriock said that appointing the two superstars was an easy decision thanks to their on and off-field leadership.
“Ash and Michelle are both players who show great maturity and selflessness in the team environment,” she said.
“As talented as they are, they are down to earth and will provide a great leadership team for the young core of our team.”
The announcement of the co-captains is the final piece of the puzzle following confirmation of Garriock’s full squad yesterday, and the team is set to fly out this afternoon before taking on Melbourne Victory at Epping Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
