Canberra United can today confirm that Nikola Orgill will #GoGreen and re-sign with the club for the 2019/20 Westfield W-League season.

Orgill enjoyed a strong first season with Canberra United last year, after previously spending seasons at both the Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets.

A versatile defender, Orgill was one of the club’s most consistent performers in Season 11 of the Westfield W-League, and as such, will be one of the co-captains for Heather Garriock’s Season 12 side.

After settling into the nation’s capital last year, Orgill says she is excited by the prospect of co-captaining the team in 2019/20.

“I am really looking forward to stepping up into a leadership role with the club,” Orgill said.

“I’ve played with most of the girls before and I’m really excited by the opportunity to co-captain such a great group of players.

“Being in Canberra for a year, I feel like a true local now and I can’t wait to represent the club and play in front of our amazing fans.”

As an emerging lawyer, Orgill will balance her life on the field with a career in the court room, something which Head Coach Heather Garriock sees as an inspiration for other aspiring footballers.

“Nikola will be balancing her day job as a young lawyer as well as committing to Canberra United,” Garriock said.

“This highlights that it’s possible to be an elite athlete as well as have a career, so she’s a great role model.

“Nikola brought us consistency and stability last season, and she will play a critical role in the leadership of Canberra United this season.”

Orgill becomes the third player to commit to Canberra United for the upcoming season, joining local legend Karly Roestbakken and Norwegian international Elise Thorsnes.

If you would like to #GoGreen with these three stars, Canberra United memberships are now open for renewal for Season 11 members and will go on sale to the public in the coming weeks, while the 2019/20 Westfield W-League draw is also expected to be released soon.
