The make-up of Canberra United-s inaugural squad became clearer today with a further five players signed for the first of the Westfield W-League brining the team to a total of 18 players ahead of kick off this weekend in Newcastle.

Local players Cian Maciejewski, Maja Blasch and Lucy Allan are complemented by the signing of Dubbo-s Nicole Sykes and Queensland-s Kara Mowbray who all bring a range of quality and experience to the line up.

Member of Belwest Foxes- 2008 treble winning outfit, Maciejewski, returns to the national league scene after being a former member of the Canberra Eclipse prior to the league-s collapse in 2004. The mild fielder scored the winning goal in the Club Pink Premier League Grand Final against Weston Creek and now turns her focus to pursuing a career in the national team.

Rising stars Blasch and Allan join the Canberra United squad as members of ACTAS to bring the number of Canberra players to ten for the first season. The Australian School Girl representative, Blasch, will be the second goal keeper in green behind Matildas- custodian Lydia Williams. ACT School girl representative, Lucy Allan, takes the next step in the elite women-s football pathway after having played juniors in the ACT followed by the Capital Football Academy, ACTAS and now Canberra United.
