Support for Canberra United ahead of their Westfield W-League is pouring in with messages of support from fans, politicians and other sporting codes.

This morning Canberra United recieved the following message of support from the ACT’s Shadow Minister for Sport & Recreation, Steve Doszpot.

The Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation, Steve Doszpot, today congratulated Canberra United on qualifying for the inaugural Womens W-League final against the Queensland Roar next Saturday.

Mr Doszpot, a former President of Soccer Canberra, said that their 1-0 semi-final victory over the Newcastle Jets in Newcastle on Saturday was a very gutsy performance.

“I was very impressed by their high standard of play and determination to win.

They are a very talented and professional team; well coached by Robbie Hooker and well administered by Capital Football and a credit to the ACT.

“Canberrans should be very proud of their efforts. Many people wouldn-t be aware that most of the players are Canberra ‘home-grown-.

“As an extra bonus, they have given a great boost to Canberra-s A-League bid as well,” Steve Doszpot said.

Mr Doszpot encouraged the Canberra community to get behind Canberra United-s efforts to be crowned the inaugural champions of the W-League.

“Please send support messages through to Capital Football or to my office at the ACT Assembly and I-ll pass them on.

“It-s important that the team is aware that the City is fully behind them,” he said.

While the CFMEU Canberra Raiders passed on their best wishes to the newest ‘green machine’ in town for the upcoming Grand Final this weekend.

You can show your support for the team by emailing your message to media@capitalfootball.com.au or faxing it to (02) 6260 4999.
