Canberra United teamed up with the Canberra Capitals Basketball team and the ACT Meteors cricket squad to launch the Women’s Summer of Sport in the National Capital on Wednesday.
United help launch Summer of SportFriday, 28 October 2011 by Russ Gibbs, CanberraUnited.com.au Canberra United teamed up with the Canberra Capitals Basketball team and the ACT Meteors cricket squad to launch the Women-s Summer of Sport in the National Capital on Wednesday.
Representatives from each squad were present at Canberra Girls Grammar to help with a PE session with students from Year 7 and 8 who got to try all three sports in the school-s gymnasium with the stars of the local scene joining in and passing on a few tricks and tips.
United were represented at the event by captain Ellie Brush, newcomer Hayley Raso and midfielder Grace Gill with the players all too happy to get involved in all the sports with Brush in particular proving, once again, that she is a dab hand at cricket! The Capitals sent Brigitte Ardossi and Molly Lewis whilst the Meteors cricket stars were Charlotte Anneveld and Sian Ruck.
It-s a busy weekend for sport across Canberra from 28-30 October with fixtures scheduled for all three teams and spectators are encouraged to attend as many matches as possible to cheer on their local sporting stars, so this is an ideal opportunity for members of the media to promote the Women-s Summer of Sport 2011/12.
