Jitka Klimkova – Football

Eyebrows were raised when Canberra United appointed the relatively unknown (in Australian circles at least) Jitka Klimkova to the role of Head Coach at the beginning of the Westfield W-League season in October but CEO Heather Reid-s signing has proved an astute acquisition. Tactically superb, and a real leader in every sense of the word, Jitka has led Canberra United to a Westfield W-League record-breaking start to the season with five wins and a draw from their opening six matches leaving the club three points clear at the head of the table in December. Her attention to detail and fresh, new ideas have galvanized the United squad and fans with the rewards providing a splendid start to the year and an unprecedented winning streak including a first ever win over Sydney FC.
