Canberra United stars Ellie Carpenter and Maria Jose Rojas are all set to go head-to-head when the Westfield Matildas and Chile face off in Australia later this month, while Rachel Corsie, Denise O’Sullivan and Refiloe Jane will all head away on international duty following round two of the Westfield W-League this week.

Carpenter was announced as part of Alen Stajcic’s Westfield Matildas squad this morning as she continues to hold down a regular place in the team, and will link up with the side in camp during next week.

After taking on France and England abroad in October, the Westfield Matildas will return to home soil in November to play fellow 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup contestants Chile, who will feature recently signed Canberra United forward Maria Jose Rojas.

Canberra United Head Coach Heather Garriock said it was an exciting prospect to see two United teammates battle it out on the international stage.

“It is great to see both Ellie and Cote selected to play in the upcoming matches, in front of what I’m sure will be big crowds in Penrith and Newcastle.”

United captain Rachel Corsie has been selected as part of a strong Scotland squad to face the USA in an international friendly on Tuesday, November 13th at St. Mirren Park, and Irish international Denise O’Sullivan will join her Ireland teammates in a week long camp across the international break.

Finally, South African midfielder Refiloe Jane, who starred in United’s win over City on Sunday afternoon will head away with the Banyana Banyana for the 2018 Women’s African Cup of Nations, from the 17th November until the 1st December.

South Africa has been drawn in Group B alongside Nigeria, Kenya and Zambia with top two sides in the groups progressing to the semi-finals – and the top three nations in the tournament qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France in June.
