Quick Look |

Canberra United head to Brisbane to take on the Roar on Friday night thanks to JT Sports Tours.

United and Roar have been the most frequent matchup in the history of the Westfield W-League, with this serving as the 25th meeting of the two sides.

Key Bits |

United are still yet to win on the road this season but could be counted as unlucky to have not got at least a point from their last road trip to Perth, where a controversial late penalty gave Glory the three points.

Brisbane will be boosted by the return of Hayley Raso, who came back to action last weekend against Sydney after a lengthy spell on the sidelines from a broken back.

These two met only a month ago at McKellar Park, with United going ahead in the opening minutes only to be clawed back, and then denied a number of times in the closing stages.

United will be without Karly Roestbakken after she was ruled out with illness earlier in the week, and Heather Garriock will have some shuffling to do in the back line to accommodate the change.

Garriock will however be boosted by the returns to action of international trio Refiloe Jane, Rhoda Mulaudzi and Maria Jose Rojas who missed the abandoned clash with Melbourne Victory last Thursday through international duty.

The Roar have won two, lost two and drawn once at home this season but only one of those games has been at Suncorp, the other was a 1-1 draw with the Glory way back in round one of the season.

From the Coach |

On Karly…

“I think Karly has been one of our most consistent players, she has been versatile and for her not to play is not good. But whoever comes in will definitely be able to do the job.”

“I saw her just before training and she kept saying ‘Heather I’m fine, I’m fine’. But for us her health and well being is the most important thing, and we’d never risk that.”

On playing away from home…

We don’t need to do anything different really. We need to change our mindset about being on the road and that starts with me as the leader. I think we need to play the same as what we’ve played at McKellar Park, that’s become a bit of a fortress. But the team are all professionals and they need to get the win on Friday.”

“We feel this sense of home at McKellar Park, so we have to shift our mindset and I’ll reiterate that to the girls, to let them know how big a game it is. The three points would be very sweet. We’ve been playing for the season the last couple of games and the girls have really stepped up.”
